Disney
In September 2020, Disney faced criticism when it emerged that it had filmed parts of the live-action Mulan remake in Xinjiang, at a time when the region was already under international scrutiny over its treatment of Uyghurs and other Turkic minorities.
The film’s closing credits also gave thanks to a number of government entities in Xinjiang, including the public security bureau in the city of Turpan and the "publicity department of CPC Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomy Region Committee".
Disney later claimed it was not responsible for thanking the Chinese Communist party in the credits at the end of the film Mulan, saying the decision was taken by local contractors.
